The Bainbridge Island’s Bloedel Reserve has been nominated for the newspaper USA Today‘s Best North American Public Garden Competition. Bloedel stands alone among the 20 nominees as the only representative of our state.
The 20 gardens were chosen by landscape designer, author, and lecturer Cindy Brockway, who is also Program Director for Cultural Resources at The Trustees of Reservations, the nation’s oldest land trust.
Among the competitors are Buchart Gardens in Victoria, the Chicago Botanic Garden, Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden, and Portland’s Japanese Garden.
The winner will be determined by voters. As is the case with most of these types of public voting competitions, voters can vote daily. You can also vote more than once a day by using different devices. No registration is required. Just click here, choose your garden, and then click the green vote button. Voting will be open until March 31 at noon.
